Our team provides a range of ophthalmic surgeries to help your pet with their ocular condition. The specialist equipment needed to perform these surgeries is available in our clinic.
Extraocular Surgeries
Extraocular surgeries are surgeries performed on the structures surrounding the eye. These procedures can range from simple eyelid mass removals to larger lid surgery or ‘face lifts’.
- Entropion (inward rolling of the eyelids)
- Ectropion (outwards rolling of the eyelids)
- Third eyelid gland prolapse (‘cherry eye’) repair
- Cryotherapy for removal of distichia (extra eyelashes)
- Ectopic cilia removal
- Parotid duct transposition (for treatment of non-medically responsive dry eye)
- Rhytidectomy (face lift)
- Macroblepharon surgery (for excessively long eyelids)
- Medial canthoplasty surgery
- Eyelid mass/tumour removal
- Nasolacrimal duct flushing/investigation
- Eyelid biopsies
- Enucleation
Corneal Surgeries
Corneal surgeries are surgeries which involve operating on the cornea (the front ‘windshield’ of the eye). These surgeries include corneal grafting and corneal debridement and can be full-thickness or partial-thickness of the cornea. They are performed under an operating microscope with microsurgical instruments.
- Corneal/conjunctival grafting for deep corneal ulceration, descemetoceles or corneal ruptures
- Corneal crosslinking
- Corneal diamond burr debridement for treatment of non-healing ulcers (SCCED)
- Corneal laceration repair
- Corneal sequestrum removal
- Corneal foreign body removal
Intraocular Surgeries
Intraocular surgeries are procedures which are performed inside the eye itself. These are delicate operations which involve high magnification microscopes and very small intraocular instruments which go inside the eyeball.
- Phacoemulsification (removal of cataracts)
- Lens luxation surgery (lendectomy to remove the lens in its entirety)
- Ahmed valve implantation (used to treat glaucoma)
- Iris cyst removal
Laser Surgery
We have state of the art laser equipment which can be used in the treatment of uveal cysts, glaucoma or to treat some tumours of the eye.
