The Eye Examination Process

  1. Examination of the whole animal and palpation of the head.

    The vet examines the animal.
  2. Close up examination of the eye with a powerful microscope -

    using a Slit lamp biomicroscopy. This may involve staining the surface of the eye.
  3. A general look at the back of the eye. (Indirect ophthalmoscopy).

  5. Measuring the pressure of the eye -

    after application of local anaesthetic with a Tonopen.
  6. And back home again !!
